Dear Listeners,

We (the Lundgren family of Elgin), are operating KTAE 1330 AM under a lease agreement we signed with the Smitherman family in August of 2007. The Smitherman's have also allowed us to make some repairs to the tower site and legally boost the modulation (loudness) of the signal. You may have noticed the difference. Our plan is to eventually purchase the station and upgrade the signal so it can be heard from Hillsboro to San Antonio.

When we leased 1330 AM in August, the call sign was changed from KMIL to KTAE at our request.  As you may recall, KTAE was the old Taylor 1260 AM call sign.  The KTAE signal on 1330 AM (like the old KTAE 1260 AM signal) is located in the heart in one of the most productive agricultural areas in the United States.  For more than 1/2 century, the KTAE 1260 AM tower (located north of Taylor) shared much of the same coverage area with KMIL 1330 AM in Cameron. Both stations served their communities with a level of excellence that surpassed many of the biggest city stations.

KTAE 1260 AM changed dramatically in the 1990's when a so-called "group owner" bought KTAE 1260 AM and changed formats. Thereafter, for all intents and purposes, Taylor lost its legendary radio station and it's destintive local sound, including it local news, farm news and it's Polka Hour. KMIL in Cameron and KRXT in Rockdale stepped into the void but it did not totally repair the damage. KTAE 1260 AM had died.  Even today, some say it was killed.

The format change of KTAE 1260 AM by the "group owner" was undoubtedly one of biggest mistakes ever made by the owner of a Central Texas radio station because it purposefully severed the ties between itself and the community it was licensed to serve.

In August of 2007, the Smitherman's moved KMIL 1330 AM programming to 105.1 FM in order to better serve the Cameron area.  In turn, we leased the 1330 AM signal from the Smitherman's and, with their cooperation, resurrected the KTAE call sign for 1330 AM. We were all determined not to make the same mistake with 1330 AM as the group owners of 1260 AM made when they turned their backs on the community they were licensed to serve.  Therefore, we retained local news, expanding area news coverage, introduced more farm news programs and expended Polka to at least two hours a day, seven day a week.

Currently, the primary signal of KTAE 1330 AM covers almost 1 million people and the secondary signal covers almost 2 million people.  If you look at Cameron, Texas on the map, you will see that KTAE's transmitting tower is located almost perfectly to reach Temple, Austin, Waco and the Bryan/College Station markets.  The station is listed in the Killeen/Temple Arbitron market, so it enjoys the market status of Temple, Texas stations.

Now, we need help from our listeners. We need to get the word out about KTAE with potential advertisers.  KTAE is one of the best advertising bargains on the radio dial and the station is getting better every day, so please mention KTAE 1330 AM to the managers and owners of businesses where you shop or buy goods and services.  Tell them you listen to KTAE and, you want to hear their ads on KTAE. Tell them they will reach thousands of new customers if they will advertise on KTAE 1330 AM.  Hundreds of businesses under the 1330 AM signal could be advertising with us today, but so far, it hasn't happened. KTAE's introductory advertising rates are literally too low.  As an example, we are currently offering 500 thirty second spots to advertisers for $1,000 for first time advertisers only. That's why we are calling them "introductory".  It costs about 15k a month to operate KTAE, and that cost will increase as we add more programming services. Since advertising revenue is KTAE's only source of income, advertisers are a necessary ingredient of KTAE's success.

When I began my radio career at the age of 18 in the late 1960''s, I sold 30 second radio ads on KGTN 1530 AM in Georgetown for $3.00 each. Just think of how the world has changed since then and that will put the value of KTAE's advertising offer in perspective.

With that said, we are looking for one or more persons to sell advertising at a 25% commission, which is extremely generous.  If you, or someone you know is interested in selling ads for us, please call me, Fred Lundgren at

(281) 599-9800.

Thank you so much for your support and thank you for listening to

Sincerely,

Fred Lundgren
